Take the next step in your career. Learn, grow, and be more at BDO!

Join our Graduate Program as a Graduate Consultant within our Research & Development team, starting January 2026!

BDO is one of the world’s leading audit, accounting, advisory and consulting firms. We provide a range of services to clients of all sizes and industries across Australia.

The Research & Development (R&D) Tax Incentive is a significant driver of innovation in Australia, encouraging companies to undertake R&D activities they might not otherwise be able to fund. Our Research and Development team help clients access the R&D Tax Incentive by helping to identify eligible R&D activities and compute eligible R&D expenditures.

What you’ll do:

As a Research & Development Graduate at BDO, you can expect to:

  • Learn about the R&D Tax Incentive, case law and guidance in foundations courses and fortnightly training
  • Perform basic research on client industries and technologies in preparation for project identification (PID) meetings
  • Join PID meetings with client engineers, scientists and developers to discuss, identify and take detailed notes about R&D activities
  • Draft R&D project descriptions based on information gathered during meetings and supporting documents provided by the client
  • Review client financial source documents and prepare R&D expenditure calculations for review
  • Prepare the R&D Application, Tax Incentive Schedule and transmittal documents for review.

What you’ll get:

  • 12-month learning and development program
  • Support and guidance from your buddy and manager
  • Service line-specific learning and development, aligned to clear career pathways
  • Social activities with your Graduate cohort, and the wider firm
  • The little things like free brekkie, healthy snacks and dress for your day
  • A culture of opportunity, connection, community, and impact
  • And global possibilities, we’re in 164 countries!

What you’ll offer:

  • You will be in your final year or have recently completed an Accounting, Commerce, Law, STEM, or relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  • Your ability to commence full-time in January 2026.
