2022 Graduate Environmental Scientist - Brisbane (Jan 2022)

The role

Cardno is looking to recruit a Graduate Environmental Scientist to join our Brisbane team in 2022.

Located in Fortitude Valley in our global headquarters, we are conveniently located within a few minutes' walk to the train station and are surrounded by cafes and restaurants in the bustling King Street precinct.

Our Water & Environment team is a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists who specialise across hydrology and drainage, aquatic and terrestrial ecology, contaminated land, environmental planning, ports and maritime, coastal management, bushfire and sustainability.

Ideally we are seeking graduates that are due to complete their studies by the end of 2021 and can be available for full time, permanent work in January 2022. As a graduate on our established 2 year Asia Pacific Graduate Development Program, you will learn all facets of environmental techniques, relevant software programs, and gain essential business skills to ensure your success in a global consulting environment.

You will be Making a Difference by –

• Participating in the delivery of projects ranging from ecology, environmental approvals and permits, and environmental compliance.
• Assisting in undertaking field and laboratory work such as sampling and testing
• Assisting in data analysis and report preparation
• Developing practical and commercial solutions to problems
• Undertaking work related training and self-development for career advancement
• Collaborating with project staff and work within a team of technical specialists in their field

About you

To be successful you will display –

• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science with completion by the end of 2021
• A passion for environmental science in the areas of Ecology, Environmental Impact Assessment, and/or Environmental Compliance
• Proven ability to learn and apply new concepts
• The ability to work and collaborate within a team environment through well-developed interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal communication skills to be able to present and articulate ideas to a wide variety of stakeholders
• A positive, initiative driven and proactive attitude

Physical Requirements

• Position includes both office and fieldwork and you must be physically able to stand and work in the field including in remote areas for extended periods of time.
