Training & Personal Development at Fulton Hogan

7.6
7.6 rating for Training, based on 49 reviews
Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
Fulton Hogan provides lots of opportunities for training and professional development. This includes technical training and accreditations you can take outside the job like white course accreditation, fire fighting training, blue book courses & auditor training. They also provide soft skills training and professional development. I have done various communication trainings run by external companies but organised through Fulton Hogan. Fulton Hogan's learning management system litmos also provides various useful courses to get you acquainted with the business, our processes and thinking about workplace conduct & relationships (e.g. culture awareness training, sexual harassment, managing stakeholders & community interests).

Haven't received much training in terms of the job itself. Have attended all the typical HSEQ trainings. I think more job and task specific training would be beneficial to graduates so they can complete tasks to a standard that is consistent with more senior engineers. Other training such as resilience training is good to gain some soft skills.

Able to learn to drive a multi tyre and smoothdrum roller. First aid training has been provided but it was refreshing knowledge already learnt. Other training is on offer is considered relevant and always encouraged. No skills have been picked up that are of note.

My training at the time was good as I was provided the resources I required and had an employee form my team always willing to help whenever I had reached out. Training was informal.

I am thrown in the deep end with no formal training and not allocated to work under a site engineer and learn from them. I have been thrown straight to a site engineer as there is not enough resources at the project. Being thrown in means I have to learn quick.

I am very happy with the graduate program thus far, I am concerned about how much training will be happening after I finish
Graduate, Melbourne - 20 Aug 2024
Formal trainings such as Microsoft Project training, working at heights training permit, and all the online learning modules are great, no issues there. There is lack of further trainings available currently if I wanted to complete any more online learning modules, we are only provided with the mandatory ones in onboarding, but I would like to see other options but there is none.

Graduates complete a CDF (career development framework) which is a checklist of things you should be learning/experiencing as a graduate. Furthermore, there are sometimes courses that the company will enroll you into (safety training days).

Will have different kind of training sessions in and out of the company regularly to keep us on the loop. Will allow us to learn new stuff from outside.

There are hundreds of opportunities to improve yourself through training, and the company is very, very good at supporting you through whatever you think will improve the quality of your work and your personal development. They show a genuine and financial interest in your improvement.

Some training programs that my manager has notified me about (e.g. blue book training). I feel that we could benefit from some more work sponsored formal training for specific roles (enviro training).
Graduate, Sydney - 07 Aug 2023
Trainings that I have done include: - Procurement - PowerPoint, Word, Excel (intermediate, advanced) - Leaks and Spills - Environmental Management Training - PowerBi I have done more as well. All training is easy to sign up for, with there being training occurring all year round. I would suggest grads do these as it is a good way to meet new people, and most importantly learn more about the company and develop skills.

The job does offer training but most of what I have learned has been from on the job experience. Learning excel was easy with the team, however they do offer a course. They have a career development framework which outlines what we should learn in order to progress.

I am satisfied with my companies training and mentoring as I am constantly learning although I would like to get more involved in interactive day courses to cover financial, behavioural and other aspects of projects that arent as apparent in everyday work.
