Application Process & Interviews at KiwiRail

Very responsive along the process and personal interview

To the best of my recollection, the interview process consisted of 3 main elements. After sending through a CV and cover letter, a pre-recorded interview, a formal interview with the head of environment, 2 representatives from Zero Harm and one of the environmental Advisors working in projects. This took place over video as I was unable to be there in person. After this interview there was a less formal, personality-based interview.

Straightforward, what is being assessed is communicated clearly to the candidate.

I had an online pre-recorded interview, then a face-to-face interview, and then later on a physical exam.

I completed a video interview (recording myself answering various questions), and then a Zoom interview.

The overall process of the interview was for the interviewers to learn who you are as a character and whether you fit in with the work culture and ideas.

The process and assessments were professional, advanced, and clear.

Applied online, attended the Interview

Submit CV and cover letter, one-way interviews, online interview, job offer, pre-employment checks, sign contract.

Recorded interview, then online interview.

Pre recorded interview: Why would I like to work for KR. Formal interview: Give an example of a time when I had to consider health and safety. Did I speak out when something was not right? Why do you want to work for Kiwirail?

The usual questions about my experiences and how I would handle a variety of situations.

Typical questions such as about my background, my interest in the business sector, and so on.

Situational questions that determine how you handle these scenarios and how you would react.

Safety related questions, about team development.

Ensure you know the purpose of the company and future direction.

Do your research, learn about the company as much as you can and how it's related to the role you're applying for.

Do your research on KiwiRail, learn about the company and be ready to ask and answer questions about the business. Also, take note of the different experiences you've had in life and previous jobs. Make sure you're confident and ready to answer the questions directly and confidently.

Be yourself because the whole point of the interview is to determine whether you fit well with the crew and whether your work ethic and character is capable of being exposed to the work culture and vision.

Do you research on the company. Have a few themes and examples ready. Ask a lot of questions - You're interviewing them too.
