People choose Landers for our down-to-earth, collaborative and supportive culture. We invest in our people and empower them to bring their best selves to work, both personally and professionally. We promote a diverse and inclusive environment with a strong focus on wellbeing, leadership and development.

About the Program

Our seasonal clerk programs are your opportunity to sample life in the law, and especially life at Landers – to see whether we're right for you. It builds on your university education in a range of practical ways including structured training, workshops and mentoring, but mostly by doing real work for real clients.

We're looking for people with the intelligence to tackle complex and interesting legal scenarios, the energy to absorb new concepts and willingness to work productively and collaboratively with different people.

You will join us for four weeks in one of your three intakes: November/December 2022, January/February 2023 and June/July 2023.

Eligibility

The firm's preference is to provide opportunities to penultimate year students; however, we do give consideration to final year applicants. Students must be Australian or New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents to be eligible for a Seasonal Clerkship at Lander & Rogers.

Working with lawyers at all levels (juniors, Senior Associates, Special Counsel, Partners) and assisting with matter work and tasks, this could involve drafting documents, research, drafting advice, attending court and meetings.

My role is very much to support whoever needs it. However, the supervisors try their best to find us interesting tasks to complete, rather than the same tasks.

Pros and cons of working at Lander & Rogers

Pros

  • Work life balance, great support, great culture, great people.

  • Everyone in the firm is extremely supportive and has made transitioning into a legal role an enjoyable experience.

  • The people are really friendly, the training and mentoring and working with people at all levels.

  • Great work hours for the industry and flexibility to work from home.

  • Everyone at the firm is always open for providing an explanation of tasks and feedback.

Cons

    • The pay is on the lower end of the current market rate, but still competitive.

    • Occasional poor turnout in the office due to people working from home.

    • Slightly fewer graduate responsibilities - it's quite a lot for a small cohort to juggle responsibilities.

    • The Brisbane office is great, but as the office grows we are starting to run out of space.

    • Pay is not as competitive and no bonuses.
