When I applied, there was an online application, then academic and emotional quizzes, a group interview and then an individual interview.

Stimulating and enjoyable. I was given a response after each step with in a suitable time frame. The interviewers were approachable and could answer all my questions.

I did vacation work with Orica and an offer flowed through from that. As such my experience would be very different to anyone else's. At time of acceptance, I was actually sent a rejection letter, followed by an acceptance letter to a company email account I had no access to. I finally called by chance prior to the offer lapsing. For vacation work, the application link on the website was not functional, and I obtained employment through a number of calls and emails to various people. My point is, persistence is vital to being employed here, and double check if you get no for an answer.

Initial online application included submitting resume, cover letter, academic transcript and responding to a number of questions. This was followed by an invitation to do online psychometric testing. The next stage was a video interview where you logged onto a program similar to Skype but instead of a person on the other end there were just questions on the screen. You had a few minutes to answer each question. The following step was a group interview which involved typical team exercises as well as some individual work (including presentations). The group interviews were in the morning and you were called back in the afternoon for an individual interview if you had made it through that stage. The individual interview was with two employees, neither of which were from HR in my case but rather were engineers like myself.

Be respectful, willing to learn and passionate about your development within the company. Get a friend to do a practice interview before the real thing, cover every question you can think of and get an idea of answers before going in.

Learn about the company and mention that in your interview

Just be honest and relaxed. Research the company first to make sure it is the right one for you. It's a bonus is you're keen on the particular company you are applying for.

Be very enthusiastic - they say in the group interviews that everyone there has the mental capacity to work for the company successfully and they are really trying to find candidates that fit well into the culture of the company. So try to focus on being friendly and willing to give new things a go. In terms of preparation I would say learn as much about the company as you can but you don't seem to need as many specifics as other companies I have interviewed for previously.

Think about some of the key moments in your life and be ready to share them in the interview. The thing they want to see is someone that is able to deal with change in their life.

Know the company. Have the right head on your shoulders, It's about wanting to learn and not being a know it all. Go in with confidence that you are the best person for this job but not cocky, just prove to them how much you WANT it. Do NOT mention Salary! You are not there for the money you are there for the job!

research the company values and vision

Focus on safety, prepare examples that indicate what you alone have contributed to a situation, stay relaxed, learn about the operations the company have and what major projects are being undertaken.

Have some basic familiarity of each of the sites (likely to be asked which one you would prefer to be based at). Don't be pushy at the AC and remember they want to see you work in a way which is best from a team perspective.

Stay calm, keep cool. Don't be afraid to take a moment to think about your answer before answering the question or asking to skip to the next question and returning to it later.
