Technology and Digital - Data and Analytics

We are looking for a Graduate to join our team of Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Analysts to help solve business problems, utilizing data to provide clarity and actionable insights to decision-makers. If you enjoy querying data, building BI solutions, and solving complex problems, then this is an opportunity for you!

The Business Intelligence Analyst is a key part of our Data Team and also a treasured partner with our business. In this area, you will learn to utilise tools like PowerBI, Azure SQL, Azure Analysis Services, Data Bricks, and Azure Synapse to add value to our team. And you'll leverage these technologies to explore, analyse, and visualize our data - utilizing your skills to create insightful, actionable business information for the wider business.

You will also learn how to work in an Agile delivery framework, and apply Data Governance principles as you interact with our secure systems and data assets.

This position partners closely with our internal data team, and will touch many different areas of our business, supporting data and analytic needs in a multitude of ways.

Your Graduate experience

Our two year Graduate Program will enable you to deepen and develop your technical and professional competencies through meaningful and challenging work.  Your in role development will be complemented by professional development programs and you will have the support from leaders and mentors to coach and guide you through each stage of the program.

Beyond the Graduate program, we believe in giving you the freedom to grow and create the career that you aspire.  Our inclusive culture and support from our leaders will enable you to discover new experiences and opportunities that energise you, stretch and challenge you to be the best version of yourself. Because, at Viva Energy, helping people reach their destination is at the heart of what we do best.

It also enables us to assess attributes like how you work with others, prioritise and deliver work, your willingness to learn and try new things and your ability to adapt and grow as our business evolves.

I work in a P&C Ops Analyst role where I assist with payroll duties and I also have been lucky enough to engage in projects like our recruitment ATS development and operator recruitment campaign.

Pros and cons of working at Viva Energy Australia

Pros

  • Everyone is super friendly and is happy to help in as much capacity as possible.

  • The work culture and environment are amazing. There is a fair work-life balance.

  • There are so many opportunities to learn and develop, it's just a matter of taking them or asking.

  • We are known for being an employer of equal opportunity for women and I feel that you can see even walking around the office how diverse our workforce is.

  • We do tree planting and sustainable events as well as volunteering days like preparing meals with the big umbrella to combat the cost-of-living crisis.

Cons

    • The lack of consistency in daily routines can be discombobulating if you don't have good systems for managing your time and stress.

    • There is a steep learning curve as the business is complex and requires some specialised knowledge.

    • Beautiful office in a good location but there are too many employees for the number of desks.

    • The lack of time between communicating changes and implementing them.

    • Sometimes there aren't documented processes which can be hard for new starters.
