Promotions are based on one's merit to deliver quality work in a specified time frame. Employees must show they are capable in their current role before they are promoted to a 'senior' level of that same role. There are also advertisements from time to time which indicate that Landgate is looking for someone to fill in that spot for X amount of time. Sometimes that role will be of a higher level than the one you are currently in. If you check all the boxes, you can apply for that role. At the end of the day, time in combination with experience will usually yield a promotion.

Landgate has a variety of initiatives that aims to give back to the community, such as the Aspire program which is currently working on the renaming of our meeting rooms in traditional noongar language. As part of the Strategic Communications team, we are assisting with the display of the commissioned artwork around the building, of which I am personally working on. Some additional initiatives Landgate engages in are: LandGive (organised approached to charity donations) International Women's Day sponsorships School mentoring HackEd - in school Hacks run by SPUR

There is a very positive and friendly culture in my organisation. From my experience, a very collaborative approach is taken within the organisation from people both within their business area and from different business areas. In terms of socialising amongst colleagues, there is an established social club that you can join. As a Graduate, I frequently socialise during lunchtime with the other Graduates, or meet up for a coffee before we start work. There is also a great initiative called "Coffee Connect" where once a month those who wish to participate are matched with an individual from within the business and are encouraged to meet up with them for a short time, it's a great way to meet people from across the business and learn about their role within the organisation.

My organisation prides themselves on the diversity of their people and encourage Aboriginal Australians, young people, women, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and people with disability to apply for positions.

The day-to-day responsibilities of a Graduate at Landgate are fantastic. I have had the opportunity to take full responsibility for projects, which has required me to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, organise meetings and schedule relevant deadlines. I have learnt a lot from these opportunities and know these skills will be transferable and valuable throughout my career.

I am satisfied with my seniors. The directors and managers seem to know what they're doing. They are sometimes accessible, depending on their schedule and they make good mentors and set an example for others. For me though, I interact and communicate a lot with my team lead. He gives me the most and helpful feedback and any recognition in the work I do for the team.

Landgate has a large 3 story office building to our disposal that we have been located in for 26 years in Midland, the company has just about completed a large project in amalgamating all staff to a more compressed area of the building to save energy. The workspaces are modern and of open-office design, the dress code fairly flexible but still smart casual. The building is located in Midland but slightly outside of the main drag, with ample parking available to all staff.

The application process was thorough and I enjoyed that the graduate coordinator would often provide updates in relation to my application progress. As I was an interstate applicant, I conducted my interview via Skype.

The pay is quite good compared to other graduate programs I looked at.

Landgate offers training such as the Public Sector Commission Development Program. This program is specifically for recent graduates who have entered the public sector. Apart from this, we are regularly enrolled into courses and training programmes that serve to up-skill or contribute towards improving our role.

On average, I work 37.5 hours a week. I feel this is very normal and its the amount your average employee would have. This is where Landgate is amazing with their flexi hours system. You kick start your weekend early, that's awesome!!

With 90% of all emails we get, we always get notified to think twice before printing the email. There are also recycling bins for us to use. I clearly see efforts from Landgate in reducing their environmental footprint.
