Here at Queensland Rail, we believe in investing in our Graduates and to set you up for success.
QR provides our graduates with the opportunity to work within our various Information Technology teams on a rotational basis. We believe that some of the best experiences are gained through exposure to different departments. Rotations could include Data & Automation, Digital Planning & Transformation, Cyber Security & Governance, Business Enabling & Core ICT (Program & Projects), ICT Operations.
Through your information technology rotations, you will be given responsibilities to take on real life challenges and assignments where you will develop a better understanding of our core business. As a graduate you will experience professional development in each of the discipline you rotate in where you will be involved in contributing to multi-disciplinary projects across Queensland Rail. This will play a critical role in growing our economy and delivering a more reliable transport network for Queenslanders. Safety is our number one priority in Queensland Rail, and you will be involved in contributing to innovative ideas and engineering solutions in keeping our team members safe.
Our two-year Graduate Information Technology Program is designed for emerging information technology professionals who want to pursue a career in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and have a genuine interest in our industry. Throughout this program, you will receive a thorough introduction to the Queensland Rail ICT business, gaining insights across how technology supports South East Queensland (SEQ) and Regional operations. You will also be exploring the business needs at strategic, tactical, and operational levels and develop a sound understanding of the key business tools to meet our business challenges.
Our team looks at providing a high level of reliability with regard to preventative and reactive maintenance of signalling infrastructure through the use of fault investigations, asset management and other miscellaneous activities.
My day to day responsibilities involve reviewing design documentation and provide feedback on packages submitted by contractors to ensure compliance with QR standards. I also co-ordinate meetings with subject matter experts to review such design packages. So it is a half project co-ordination and half technical engineering role. Note that this is just my current rotation, in my other rotations I have done technical design work, assisted electricians in construction and done maintenance activities with reliability engineers.
I help manage the framework and governance related to Business Improvement projects within the Corporate Services function. I help with ad hoc tasks, process mapping and work on some of these improvement projects.
